Action Research Plan

  1. Misti,

I really like the premise of your project. I think that being a teacher new to a district is pretty scary, especially if you are from out of state. Procedures are different, appraisals are different, I had never heard of TEKS when I first came to Texas....

A couple suggestions could make your plan stronger. First, would there be a need to evaluate the project in the middle to see if it is going as planned? Maybe some "benchmarks" could be put in place to answer further questions that may arise.

Second, you may want to think about collaborating with others to see if additional questions need to be answered that could lead to more action research and lead to more school improvement. School improvement should be cyclical, so reflecting at the end and coming up with additional action research could help continue the idea of cyclical improvement.

  3. I decided to follow your blog because I am very interested in the results of your action research. Your topic is one of particular interest. As a future administrator, ensuring that teachers have the support that they need is essential to the success of the school. Your action research plan will be a good base that can provide me with some insight that I can apply among my staff, as needed.

  4. I think you project could be beneficial to most campuses. I think it could be made stronger by adding research into best practice in this area. I also think this would help with explaining the need for change.

I like that you have the campus highly involved. With any action research I think that is key.
